More direct bookings this winter: a checklist for Lapland travel businesses and venues

Christmas parties, January kick-offs and the Lapland winter season are being booked right now. Use this checklist to make sure your site shows up for these searches and that visitors can ask for a quote or book with you directly.

Twelve things that bring winter bookings to your own site.

If you only have time for one thing from this guide, do this: give Christmas parties, meetings and each winter package its own page with a starting price, capacity and a quote request.

01

One page for every thing people search for

Christmas parties, kick-offs, team days, Christmas packages, New Year, aurora tours. Each is searched with different words, and one general page ranks for none of them. Put the service and the place in the title, for example “Aurora cabin in Levi” or “Christmas party venue in Rovaniemi”.

02

Show price, capacity and how to get there

Starting price per person or per night, how many fit for dinner, a meeting or overnight, and how to arrive: distance from the airport or station, transfers and parking. Visitors ask these first, and without them they compare elsewhere.

03

A quote request on every page

Put the form at the end of the page, not on a separate contact page. Type of event, number of people, preferred date and email are enough. You can reply straight away with a quote.

04

Language versions for the Lapland season

International travellers search in English or German, not Finnish. Translate at least the key winter pages in full, including prices, directions and the form, and mark the language versions with hreflang for search engines.

05

Google Business Profile ready for the season

Seasonal opening hours, winter photos, services and a link straight to the booking page, not the front page. Reply to reviews. Map search and AI assistants use the same information.

06

Structured data

Tell search engines in a machine-readable way what the business is, where it is, what it offers and at what price (schema.org: LocalBusiness or LodgingBusiness, Offer and FAQPage). This lets the details appear directly in search results.

07

AI search

Ask ChatGPT or Gemini the same question your guests would: service, area, group size and month. AI recommends businesses whose sites state the facts as text. Not in an image, not in a PDF.

08

Seasonal pages in good time

A page published a week before the season has no time to collect searches. Christmas party page in September, Christmas and New Year pages in October, spring team day page before Christmas. Keep last season’s pages and update them instead of deleting them.

09

A clear path for company bookings

HR or a team lead needs the price per person, duration, meals, transport and invoicing details. Ready-made packages such as half day, full day and overnight are easier to get approved than an empty quote request. Reply the same day.

10

A reason to book direct

If the same accommodation is on a booking platform, say next to the booking button why guests should book with you: best price, more flexible cancellation or an extra only available on your own site. Every direct booking saves the platform commission.

11

A guide in exchange for an email

Not everyone is ready to ask for a quote on the first visit. Party or team day ideas, a winter packing list or an aurora guide in exchange for an email keeps them close until they decide.

12

Measure where enquiries come from

Search Console shows which searches find you, and analytics shows which page the quote request came from. When you know which page brings enquiries, you know what to improve for next season.

TEST IT YOURSELF

Ask an AI assistant whether it recommends you.

Copy the question into ChatGPT or Gemini and see whether you are mentioned. If not, there is a reason, and it can be fixed.

LAPLAND”Recommend a cabin with aurora views near Levi for two adults in February, with a private sauna.”
KICK-OFF”Where can we hold a company kick-off for 30 people in Lapland in January, with meeting space and activities?”

Or shall we do it for you?

We take on a limited number of new clients for the rest of the year, so that their pages are ready before the season. On the Sales Engine level we also reach companies that are not yet looking for a venue. Start with the free analysis and see whether Evex is a good fit for you.
